September 15 -- October 28

Born in Lima, Fred Krakowiak graduated from Lima Central Catholic in 1970.  He went on to become a successful financial planner, work he pursued for over 30 years, until his retirement in 2010, at which point he embarked on his second career,  becoming an expert on the African experience, painting African wildlife in situ, leading safaris, and writing about Africa in two very well-received coffee table books.

In his introduction to Africa: An Artistís Safari, Fred writes:  ďTraveling to Africa was a life-changing experience for me.  It affected my outlook on life personally, and it affected my art.  It is as if a light has gone on inside me. Iím now much more relaxed than I was before the trip; Iím much more open-minded.  My art has definitely improved. . . .  My paintings are now more vital; they have more life.Ē

Krakowiak will present a multi-media discussion of  his work and demonstrate his techniques in a Soup and Salad Lecture at ArtSpace on Thursday, October 5.

A public reception for the artist will be held on Friday, October 6, 6:30-8:30 pm.
