This past year has been a good one for ArtSpace: we mounted 14 discrete
exhibits in our three galleries and we went over the top in class
enrollments (including having to add a second week of sessions to the
phenomenally popular Kids Summer Art Camp). We offered two series of
Soup and Salad Lectures and a bus tour to the Manet exhibit at the
Toledo Museum of Art. And, of course, we did the 15-week series of Rally
in the Square concerts and the one-night gala that is its younger
cousin, Jazz at the Greenhouse.
Doing all that takes time, attention, hard work, the dedication of lots of
people, and, of course, money. As a
organization, ArtSpace relies on multiple sources for its funding:
donations, contributions, grants, fundraisers like the Rallies and
Jazz at the Greenhouse, and, of course, memberships. We get no public
monies of any kind. So, in a real sense, the members of the organization
have been and continue to be one of the chief foundations on which we base
And thatís where you come in. As you might guess, without strong membership
rolls and the commitment they entail, ArtSpace would be a lesser place,
unable to fulfill its goals of providing the community with excellence in
exhibitions, educational opportunities, and special community events.
So, Iím writing you now to ask that you commit to membership in ArtSpace for
the calendar year 2013. By becoming a member, you do several things: you
go on record as being in support of the ArtSpace mission, you help fund that
mission, and, not least, you provide the moral support that makes our
efforts worthwhile. With those as the results, itís easy to see, I think,
how vital members are to the organizationís health and well-being.
ArtSpace memberships are available at several levels, some as low as $25.00
a year -- the ticket price for a 3-D movie these days. Iím hoping one of
those levels is right for you and that you will see your way to becoming a
member of ArtSpace.
