We, the undersigned, are on a mission: to build the ArtSpace/Lima membership
rolls to new high numbers.
After all, membership, as the old ad used to say, “has its privileges.” The enclosed
brochure outlines levels of membership and the perks that go with them. For
the Basic, Senior/Student, and Family memberships, these include: 10% off classes, workshops and lectures; 10% discount on Gallery or Gift Shop
purchases; invitations to all Gallery openings, preview receptions, artist
lectures and special events; free subscription to ArtSpace/Lima’s
Quarterly Newsletter; and voting privileges at the annual ArtSpace/Lima
members’ meeting. As you move up the ladder into the various Donor
categories, the privileges move up as well.
course, the benefits of membership also, and maybe more importantly, include
the satisfaction that comes with knowing the manifold ways in which arts
organizations build the community, the ways in which they offer invaluable
education opportunities to students and adults alike, and, not least, the
ways in which they enrich and elevate your inner life as nothing else can.
Since our incorporation as the non-profit Lima Art Association in 1955,
through our development into ArtSpace/Lima and the establishment of our
presence on Town Square, ArtSpace has always foregrounded the goals of our
mission statement: to offer the Lima/Allen County community the best and
most innovative artists, the most engaging exhibits, to be a venue for
artists to show and sell their work, to offer classes and art history
lectures, and community events like Rally in the Square. Along the
way, we have showcased local photographers in the annual Photography
exhibit, high school artists-in-the-making in the Kewpee Invitational,
the most exciting local craftspersons in ArtSpace/Pops. In 2017,
we augmented those exhibits with solo shows by the prominent Ohio painter
and watercolorist Chris Leeper and the internationally acclaimed African
wildlife artist Fred Krakowiak, himself a Lima native making his triumphant
homecoming after an absence of forty years.
have high hopes that 2018 will be another successful year in the pursuit of
our mission, and we hope you will join us in the continuing quest for
excellence that is ArtSpace/Lima.
All our best wishes for the holiday season and for the months to follow.
Sally Windle, President
Board of Trustees
